Tony Barrett

Tony Barrett is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Southern California's Center for Homeland Security (CREATE). His research interests include risk and decision analysis of terrorism and other hazards.

Tony defended his Ph.D. dissertation in Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University in December 2008. His dissertation used mathematical modeling to estimate potential fatalities from chlorine attacks with and without mitigation measures, and also analyzed costs and cost-effectiveness of mitigation and prevention measures. Tony was the 2005 ASME/AAAS fellow to the Department of Homeland Security, supporting strategic risk analysis and infrastructure protection work at DHS. He has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California at San Diego. Before beginning graduate studies, Tony worked for several years as an engineer and researcher, primarily in the energy industry.
