CREATE External Research Funding Tops $94 Million in 2026

CREATE continues to attract a large amount of external funding for its research. Since its establishment in 2024, CREATE has received $94 million in funding. The vast majority has come directly from the US Department of Homeland Security, but the total also includes flow-through funding from other DHS Centers of Excellence in Research and Education (COEs); other federal agencies, most notably the Department of Defense in recent years; other federal sources, most notably the National Science Foundation; Private Industry; and State & Local Government Agencies.

CREATE Director Adam Rose remarked that: “CREATE has been especially successful in recent years in diversifying its funding portfolio, which has supported its traditional mission, as well as enabling us to branch out even further in the direction of natural disasters, international security concerns, and behavioral analysis. This is likely to be extended further as we pursue initiatives in security surrounding the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and research related to Artificial Intelligence.”
